Evergreen Sixth Form
Evergreen School’s Sixth Form department is a thriving and exciting environment to be in. Our main aim is to prepare our young people for life beyond school.
We follow the Evergreen Curriculum, which evolves with the ever-changing needs of the students and incorporates work-based and practical activities that develop the life and work skills all our young people need to feel successful and fulfilled.
We offer accredited courses, including Functional Skills English, Maths and Digital Skills through NCFE, as well as our own internal accreditations. More information about NCFE qualifications can be found here: https://www.ncfe.org.uk/sector-specialisms/english-and-maths/functional-skills/
This year, students are grouped predominantly by year group, and mix across sixth from groups for Functional Skills and Physical Skills, where appropriate. We have also implemented ‘Future Focus Groups’ this year. These sessions happen weekly and offer all sixth form students the opportunity to experience a variety of careers. This year’s options are ‘Health & Care’, ‘Catering & Hospitality’, ‘Leisure & Wellness’ and ‘Enterprise & Retail’.
Students also have the opportunity to gain work experience in our school Book Cafe and Enterprise shop, as well as other areas across school. External work experience opportunities are available through our links with The Nuffield, 1 Mill Street and Mencap, to name a few.
We also link our curriculum closely to the four EHCP areas for post-14 students:
- Friends, Relationships and Community Inclusion
- Learning and Employment Related Skills
- Independence, Life skills and Community living skills
- Health & Psychological Well-being
